5th Heswall (Methodist) Cubs welcomes boys and girls aged 8 – 10½ on Monday evenings at our well-equipped Scout HQ in Sandy Lane. Like any other cub pack we aim to provide fun and learning rather different from a school environment. As our youngsters are likely to be at different schools we hope to promote new friendships, as well as to help develop confidence and encourage leadership.
Traditional scouting skills form the basis of the programme, with an emphasis on the outdoors in the summer months, culminating in a weekend camp under canvas. We work for badges and challenges as well as taking part in District competitions and events with other packs. These include football, quizzes, safety posters, scouting skills, and St George’s Day parade. Cubs are prepared for progression to the Scout section when they reach the appropriate age.
